Blending with reflection

A lake in the wooded mountains
is like the souls expression
as it reflects the world around
in its depthless exterior dimension

The surface is less troubled now
the gusty wind and choppy loch
settling finding its nature showing
the glistening shoreline rocks

Smoothing more a looking glass
the outside truly reflects is truly seen
the shimmery surface becomes still
our spirit reaching the serene

Only when the water is quiet
holding that stillness clear
holding the calm and delight
the boundaries disappear

Where does reality end?
where does reflection begin?
in truth we find the answer
blending our outside within

Gusts can ruffle the surface yet
but the water's core holds sure
beneath it is calm and unruffled
the water's seat bedrock pure

a beam of light on a wintry day

The castle stands still
but much less forboding
changes are happenng inside
the walls crumbling and eroding

A narrow window slit high up
like a mouth shouting aloud
is hit by a beam of light on a wintry day
piercing the thunderous clouds

It sparkles and glints in the sun
suddenly alive and there to see
poems are a window to my soul
Each time a dove of peace is let free

It flies from the window
my spirits message to the world
allowing others to see inside
my real story being unfurled

the castle's defences lessen
sun rays illuminating and warming
penetrating the bastion softly
the walls now a golden welcoming

0ne small victory

My heart isnt here any more
the grey jobish bureaucracy
forcing me on a different path.
Enough of this internal hypocracy

Wanting to make a difference
A leader and a maverick
rules respectfully ignored
thoughtful iconoclastic

The thrill the buzz each day
of a small but real victory
make things bearable
and creates a good story

But time passes, the kicks
need more stimulation
two three four personal wins
not a lasting situation

Each human success
holding doors, lifting a case
reinforces the urgency
to move out of the rat race

I do make a differnece
right now. people amount
to something more than work
letting them know they count

My journey non conformist
I imagine a day full of giving
proof that I do have value
all my life and its real living

Rose's seasons

All flowers start young and tender
green tight packed newness
eager reaching buds on
stems tall fresh and slender
open hearted available yearning
desirous hearts bursting forth

Flowers swell and unfold
open sweet scented colourful
lush extravagent soft silky
blushing cheeks red and bold
Petals scatter your heady smell
fading wasting dissembling now

Petals crushed leaves discarded
now melting into the ground
thorny defence and bitter hops
red heart exposed raw and hardened
lasting so much longer
naked exposed and enduring

Back facing forward

Sad welling void
a distance a hole
space for grief

Emptiness and loss
almost physical
an awkward barrier

s e p a r a t i o n

her back facing forward
this is what I see

Conversation with a friend

I need the time
to give them the space
to be there and present
in the right frame of mind

Make them comfortable
and give them room
to challenge and lead
and let them find

answers and new questions
to speak their truth
to allow discovery
and self reflection

with a gentle guiding hand
to feel needed and
feel the warmth
of outflowing energy
making a strong connection

a blank canvas
observing
listening
uninterupting
witness to their
unfolding

LOSS 2

"She is gone"

I CRY

real tears of pain
grieving salty red eyes
showing clear and strong
the loss and sorrow.

Weak smiles not hiding
the real cost within
the change and grief

A time still left
for healing
accepting
the new phase of life
to come to have
different relationships
with the lost
loved ones
and living ones too

LOSS

Tears shed and emotions well
a recent bereavement so close
to the surface
a casual comment
a trigger a key
to unresolved emotion
reaching out silent
eyes reflecting
controlled emotion

welcoming hugs
lingering welcomed
gaining strength
taking succour
receiving
willing
wanting
needing

gradual slow repreive
not forgetting
beginning to accept
change and loss
loving still
but different
all together
