Here be monsters

A map with scary bits

We all see the world in different ways
Our distant peaks and broad valleys
Coastlines with sheltered bays
jagged cliffs and distant lands

Our journey across our map
starts at birth with no compass
and life throws up some gaps
of shadows and darkness

We look in but are not so keen
preferring to tread on familiar ground
fearing the unknown or bits part seen
signs saying "Here be monsters"

Age takes us forward and the map unfolds
we gain strength and are curious
We are less afraid of what the voids hold
so we turn our light into the blanks

As we reveal the hidden truth
Our territory makes more sense
we are then the living proof
that full knowledge is completeness
