Jigsaw puzzle

last to first he is there

When I was young we did jigsaws
we got better at doing the edges
and filling in the middle last
twisting turning and sorting
having fun and the time passed

My father always took a piece
when we were tucked up in bed
and saved it to relieve my sad face
when we had so nearly done the puzzle
his final piece he would then place

Now my father has departed us
a new chapter of my life has begun
discovering my emotions hid deep
he was also the first puzzle piece
allowing me to open up and truly weep
