Kindling
Youthful and sprightly cheerful
light flames lick and tease
then clouds of smoke
fickle short lived essential
learning stoking future delights

Wood
Wood fires bright spell binding to watch
heat and flames dancing beguiling passion
easily spent and then left with ash
consuming crackling sparks and spits
seasoning and type control the life

Coal
Hearts like a coal fire at times dark and
apparently cold but always burning hot
intense heat heightening the feelings
they burn through showing the warmth
that was and is always there within
